Variations

If you have ever been to Waves Yoga you understand how uplifting it feels to practice with the community around you. This is what makes practicing in person at a studio so special. However, we understand that some may find practicing around others intimidating. It is our hope that everyone feels safe and welcomed into Waves Yoga. If you do come to class at Waves just know that whatever you do is enough. You set time aside for your body and mind and that is all that matters.

Sometimes we have to be reminded not to let our ego take over. We do not have to be doing the same thing everyone else is doing, and this is especially important in our yoga studio. If your neighbor is doing jump squats it does not mean you have to be doing jump squats. If the person next to you is laying down it doesn't mean that you have to as well. No one exercise has to look exactly the same, nor does one exercise do it all. If something does not work for your body this gives you the chance to be creative and explore what does work!

You know your own body and what it needs better than anyone else. Having limitations gives us more opportunity to be creative. Try out a few of the variations offered in class. Be curious about your body, and know that everyone's journey is different. Every single person in the studio could be doing something differently, but they all would still be doing it “right.” What your body needs is not necessarily what everyone's body needs. We are all making our own progress in our own ways. Let go of any shame and enjoy moving your body in a way that feels good!
